"Tiranga".. the Tricolour Flag of India was designed by Lt. Shri Pingali Venkayya.. As we all know that the top most colour saffron represents happiness, zeal, courage, sacrifice and patriotism.. Next in the centre of it is the white colour, its symbolizes the peace and th hope for unity.. The colour at bottom is green, which stands for fertility, land and the nature.. In the centre of white band there is a blue wheel with 24 spokes.. This is the Ashok Chakra (or "The Wheel of Law").. It represents the ongoing progress of this largest democratic country in the world and the importance of justice in life.. Our National Flag was born on July 22, 1947.. First time it was hoisted at the Council House on August 15, 1947 by our first Prime Minister Pt। Jwaharlal Nehru and he said॥ "Now I present to you not only the Resolution, but the Flag itself"॥ As per the available information this is the first flag॥ It was first hoisted on 7th August, 1906 at the Parsee Bagan Square in Calcutta॥
The second one was called the 'Saptarishi Flag'॥ This flag was hoisted in Stuttgart at the International Socialist Congress held on 22nd August, 1907..
This one is associated with the names of Dr। Annie Besant and Lt. Sh.Lokmanya Tilak, this flag was hoisted at The Congress session in Calcutta during the 'Home Rule Movement'॥
In the year 1921, a young man from Andhra Pradesh presented this flag to Mahatma Gandhi for approval॥ It was only after Gandhiji's suggestion that the white strip and the charkha were added॥
This flag was suggested during the All India Congress Committee session in 1931॥ But, the Committee's suggestion was not approved..
On 6thAugust, 1931, the Indian National Congress formally adopted this flag, which was first hoisted on August 31..
